QFT text for self-study? : Physics
Make sure to read it at least once. April 14, at His definition and characterisation of functional integrals, and suber analysis of renormalisation and divergences are flawless. These notes are great if you are looking for a lecture-style as opposed to textbook-style discussion of some advanced topics. It also doesn’t go too in depth over renormalization.
The book is very precise on the level of rigour of physicsand it contains dozens of detailed and complicated derivations that most books tend to omit. This comprehensive text offers a balanced treatment, providing students with both a formal presentation and numerous practical examples of calculations.
Itzykson and Zuber I’ve found to be basically incomprehensible, your mileage may vary. It has very nice discussion of several topics.
I recently ran across a very good new quantum field theory textbook in the bookstore. Beginners may find the book slightly too demanding on a first read due to the level of detail and generality it contains. You just have to go through one, not understand half of it, and then go through another and you might understand a good deal of it by the end. The book by Zee, Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshellis itxykson for someone with background on gravity and condense iitzykson, but will mess up the beginner’s mind with bombarding of variety of topic.

The most complete and comprehensive approach to quantum field theory is certainly Steven Weinberg’s series Volume 1Volume 2Volume 3. Also, all the books by greiner are really good to zubdr from because they have ALOT of worked examples The thing is that the needs of low energy and high energy physics tend itzykaon be quite different, so their methods in turn were developed separately. The book left me delighted: There were just some sections that didn’t quite “click” for me, but some parts were very lucid. As with Coleman, and even more so, the mere name of the author should be a good enough reason to read this series of books.

I’m not sure this book is very good as an introduction; the first few chapters are accessible but the book quickly gains momentum. The Quantum Theory of Radiation: I qrt like these notes, because the exposition is modern, and they discuss many different topics without going into unnecessary details or becoming overly technical. In hindsight it now seems like an excellent book, but again as an introduction, eh.
